Machame Route
The Machame Route is known as one of the most scenic routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. The route is diverse and varied, with dramatic changes in scenery from tropical rainforest to alpine desert to glacial areas. It is also known as the "Whiskey Route" and is a relatively rough route, but has a high success rate and is popular with many climbers.
Marangu Route
The Marangu Route is the oldest of the Kilimanjaro climbing routes and is a popular route also known as the "Coca-Cola Route." It is the only route where you can stay overnight in mountain huts, making it a more comfortable climb than other routes. The route is relatively gentle and is considered suitable for beginners, but sufficient preparation is required as it is difficult to acclimatize to the altitude.
Lemosho Route
The Lemosho Route (Shira Route) is one of the most beautiful, quiet and natural routes on Mount Kilimanjaro. Starting from the Lemosho Gate on the west side, there are not many climbers for the first few days, so you can enjoy the untouched nature. It is also known for its high success rate due to the route design that is excellent for altitude acclimatization.
Rongai Route
The Rongai Route is the only route to climb Kilimanjaro from the north side, and starts near the border with Kenya. It is characterized by low precipitation and dry conditions, making it relatively easy to climb even in the rainy season. In addition, there are not many climbers, so you can enjoy climbing in a quiet and calm environment. The route is gentle and not technically difficult, making it suitable for beginners.
Umbwe Route
The Umbwe Route is the steepest and most difficult route among the Kilimanjaro climbing routes. It is difficult to acclimatize to the altitude because it increases the altitude in a short period of time, and is considered to be for advanced climbers in terms of both technical and physical fitness. There are less climbers than other routes, making it ideal for those looking for a quiet and rugged climb.
